Job Description:

Kuwait Airways (KU: IATA, KAC: ICAO) is the official national carrier of the State of Kuwait.

Established in 1953 as a private company, the airline was initially 50 per cent owned by the Kuwaiti government. In 1962, the government assumed 100 per cent ownership, making it the longest serving, official state carrier operating from the Arabian Gulf Region.  Kuwait Airways employs over 4,800 people, and the head office is in the heart of Kuwait City, close to Kuwait International Airport (KWI).

The airline currently provides regular scheduled services to 36 international destinations in the Far East, Middle East, Europe and North America.  Kuwait Airways’ fleet of 23 aircraft currently consists of 5 x B777-300ER, 7 x A320-200CEO (completed delivery Q2 2015), 5 x A330s (completed delivery Q4 2015), 4 x A340-300, 9 x Boeing 777-200, and 1 x Boeing 747-400. Kuwait Airways will boast the youngest commercial airline fleet in the world.
Kuwait Airways is recruiting for the role of [Communications Trainee Engineer]. In this role, your tasks will include but not be limited to:
  1. Performs a variety of minor technical engineering tasks related to installation, system monitoring, maintenance and repair of computerized data communications equipment and systems relevant to assigned project.  Includes setting up, connecting and testing equipment, cleaning and adjusting equipment on a scheduled basis or as necessary, fault finding and diagnosing equipment or network malfunctions using various types of test equipment and effecting repairs
  2. Monitors data communications lines as assigned and notifies supervisor of problems as they occur.  Includes maintaining regular watch over line monitors and modems to be alter to down lines, using headsets to listen in on line quality or pick up distortions, and troubleshooting problems encountered, reporting difficulties to supervisor and correcting if possible.
  3. Assists with installation of new computer sets and peripherals for KAC systems' users including outstations and travel agencies as assigned.  Sets up equipment, lays or strings lines/cables and connects to telephone line, satellite link or coaxial cable link to (LAN), (WAN) or minies as appropriate.  Reviews diagrams or drawings to ensure efficient system set-up, makes necessary adjustments to computer sets and peripherals and tests connections and functions.
  4. Cleans and maintains equipment as directed or scheduled.  Includes inspecting equipment on a routine basis and cleaning  or adjusting equipment as needed.  Diagnoses faults and performs minor repairs on location if possible.  On call for system malfunctions as assigned.
  5. Develops and maintains a good knowledge of various data communications systems as related to assigned work.  Includes studying the technical aspects of new systems introduced into KAC, reviewing schematics and network diagrams and attending in-house or outside institute training courses.



Requirement:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Communications Engineering
  2. 1 year experience on job training related including 6 months' on the job training.

  1. Good knowledge of English.
