Kuwait Airways (KU: IATA, KAC: ICAO) is the official national carrier of the State of Kuwait.
Established in 1953 as a private company, the airline was initially 50 per cent owned by the Kuwaiti government. In 1962, the government assumed 100 per cent ownership, making it the longest serving, official state carrier operating from the Arabian Gulf Region. Kuwait Airways employs over 4,800 people, and the head office is in the heart of Kuwait City, close to Kuwait International Airport (KWI).
The airline currently provides regular scheduled services to 36 international destinations in the Far East, Middle East, Europe and North America. Kuwait Airways’ fleet of 23 aircraft currently consists of 5 x B777-300ER, 7 x A320-200CEO (completed delivery Q2 2015), 5 x A330s (completed delivery Q4 2015), 4 x A340-300, 9 x Boeing 777-200, and 1 x Boeing 747-400. Kuwait Airways will boast the youngest commercial airline fleet in the world.Kuwait Airways is recruiting for the role of Senior Tax Manager.In this role, your tasks will include but not be limited to:
Coordinating with HQ departments and out-stations to set up detailed processes that ensure compliance to new tax as it is introduced or when a new station is setup.
Coordinating at HQ level to incorporate system modification and creation of accounting nominals for newly instituted taxes in outstations and HQ as well as coordinating with HQ Departments and Financial reporting division in meeting Kuwait Airways Branch compliance requirements.
Setting up a process of regular review to ensure direct and indirect tax liabilities are identified / settled correctly and that returns filed on time.
Examining and enforcing the reliefs and benefits of DTAA to the benefits of Kuwait Airways in various jurisdictions and recommending areas of tax advantages to the Ministry of Finance Kuwait in order to safeguard Kuwait Airways' interest.
Coordinating with PAX Revenue accounting team in classifying newly instituted ticket taxes and creating procedures and corresponding accounting setup to ensure compliance.
Identifying, negotiating and engaging tax consultant(s) at the station in consultation with HQ and local station management.
Maintaining a repository trail of tax related procedures, sample reports, and returns filed / followed at different stations and HQ.
Tracking changes in tax laws across the network and highlighting risk / action required to Management at HQ and implementing changes at station.
Chartered Accountant / CPA or equivalent
is preferred or, a Master's Degree with tax experience with Big 4
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing accounting
and tax requirements
Knowledge of Arabic language is an added advantage
Strong execution, analytical and problem solving skills
Self-motivated team player
Experienced with policy and procedure development and documentation
A fair knowledge of International taxation rules. Knowledge of airline accounting procedures preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft office; specifically, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
